ACTIVITY

A guide will show you how people lived in the Stone Age. In the Stone Age Village you can grind a stone tool, try shooting an ancient bow and have a picnic lunch. On the Trap Trail you can learn about the trapping tools used by our ancestors. During your visit to the Kierikki Stone Age Centre, watch the Sunstone film and explore the archaeological exhibition using a task simulator.

DURATION

The tour lasts 3½ hours. The tour starts at 9am and ends at 12.30pm.

FOOD

You can bring your own food and grill sausages at the campfire site. A lunch break is included in the tour. You can also book a meal at the KierikinHovi Hotel restaurant.

TRANSPORTATION

The school pays for its own transport to Kierikki. For spring 2024 the transport company has already been tendered. You will find instructions on how to book transport in your booking confirmation.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

The tour will be outdoors most of the time, so dressing appropriately for the weather is important.

FOR UNIVERSITY SCHOOLS AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS

The price of the visit is 200 €/group (+ 24% VAT). The school arranges transport to the destination. You can book your visit at the Oulu Museum and Science Centre online shop.

BOOKING THE GUIDED TOUR:

  • In the autumn term 2024, Kierikki visits will take place in August-September.
  • Guided tours can be booked via the Oulu Museum and Science Centre’s online shop.
  • The online booking calendar is open from 6 to 21 May 2024.
  • Two parallel classes (e.g. 5A and 5B) from the same school should visit at the same time. If there is an odd number of parallel classes, you can include a fifth year class.
  • There will be a separate tour for both classes at the same time. Each tour can accommodate up to 25 students.
  • One teacher will book a tour for each class (please note when booking that the tours will start at the same time).
  • Each class has its own guide and each class visits the sites at a different pace.
  • For special classes, it is advisable to book a separate visit.
  • IMPORTANT: You will receive immediate confirmation of a successful booking by email. Book the bus according to the instructions on the booking confirmation. If you do not receive a booking confirmation, your booking has not been successful. In this case, please contact the Museum and Science Centre Customer Services.
